Health care profession or health care industry?

After several weeks of observing care received in hospitals and rehabilitation centers -- none locally -- I had to remind my self that this has become less of a health care profession and more of a health care industry. Sure, doctors and nurses provide quality care, and some not so good or at least abrasive at one Sunshine State facility, but I've gotten the impression that the focus of most cases is the almighty dollar, but not from the personal care-giver.

Hospital bills are wildly expensive and insurance companies seemingly have their tentacles too deeply involved in health care centers. Thus, it's an industry. Yes, I know these places must turn profits and must charge steep fees to cover their own costs, but their are people out there that cannot receive adequate health care because of their tax bracket. So what's the solution, socialized medicine? I would say no to that, but I do feel sorry for the families who must mortgage their lives to cover their little girl's kidney transplant.
