Auburn University President Dr. Jay Gogue is back at work Wednesday after spending a night in the hospital.
Gogue spent Tuesday night at East Alabama Medical Center after fainting at an off-campus social reception Tuesday evening, but was released Wednesday morning, Brian Keeter, public affairs director for AU, said.
As of right now, the reason why the president briefly fainted is not known, Keeter said, but a number of tests were conducted at the hospital and no problems were found.
“He did have a viral infection and a cold,” Keeter said. “It’s possible it could have been related to that.”
Keeter said the president has no prior heath problems.
