It’s a good idea to keep your mind out of the gutter.
Bowling balls don’t fair too well there, either.
But later this month when the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County holds its Inaugural Bowling Event, there will hopefully be a lot more strikes.
The BGC Inaugural Bowling event is part of the organization’s ongoing annual fundraising campaign.
Ron Anders, BGC committee chairman, and vice president Robyn Bridges were searching for creative ways to generate support for the organization’s programs when a staff brainstorming session produced a bowling event.
“A tournament like this is something you just don’t see everyday, and we feel like it’s a way to reach people who may have never had a chance to support the Clubs before,” said Anders in a released statement.
All proceeds from the bowling event will go directly to the operating budget of the BGC.
The bowling tournament will include up to 24 four-person teams.
Bowlers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in the tournament.
The BGC will put on a golf tournament March 13 and a tennis tournament later this year.
