Bill proposed regarding two-year colleges and legislators preposterous
That a bill has been introduced that would require the rules and policies developed by the State Board of Education involving Alabama’s public two-year colleges to be reviewed by legislative council, which is made up of legislators is absolutely preposterous!

If this bill could have, as Dr. Paul Hubbert told the Birmingham News, prevented the corruption that was rampant in the system for so long, then why didn’t they do it years earlier and prevented the corruption which was rampant when Bradley Byrne took over?

Apparently the influence Dr. Hubbert has is being used to attempt to bring back a system that proved to be so corrupt and put such a black eye on the state of Alabama.
Citizens, rise up and call this proposed bill just another way for our esteemed legislators to resume double dipping. Contact your legislators and let your voices be heard!

Public’s opinion influenced by anti-Bush, anti-war barrage of left
My thanks to John W. Cochran for his letter containing the link to poll results in the “Military Times.”(By the way, it should be noted that the “Military Times,” like the “Army Times”, “The Navy Times”, and the “Air Force Times,” are not organs of the government, but of the Gannett News Corp).

It is important to note that, contrary to Cochran’s assertion that the survey results indicate that soldiers have divided opinions on Iraq, those results, when viewed fairly, indicate wide support of every aspect of the President’s policies regarding that country.

On the questions indicative of morale, such as job satisfaction, impact on family, inclination to recommend a military career to their children or to others, and outlook toward extending or reenlisting in the military, (when “highly satisfied and somewhat satisfied” responses are combined versus a “highly dissatisfied or somewhat dissatisfied” combination), the results indicate approximately 3-to-1 positive from both active duty military and National Guard and Reserve personnel.

On the question as to whether we should have gone to war in Afghanistan and our prospect for success in that effort, the results are similar. And, although the response as to whether we should have attacked Iraq are lower, they remain positive, with 2-to-1 believing the effort will conclude successfully.

Those numbers are not, as Cochran would have us believe, consistent with those of the civilian population, but indicative of wide support of the president within the military. This disparity indicates that the public’s opinion is strongly influenced by the constant anti-Bush, anti-war barrage of the left and their allies within the mainstream media, while the opinions reflected by the military in this poll denote conclusions arrived at by their personal experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan.
