A man charged with stabbing his roommate was indicted on charges of attempted murder and arrested Friday, according to a statement released by Auburn police Monday.
Johnathon Sepp Etterer, 20, from Birmingham, turned himself in to police April 17. At the time, he was charged with second-degree aggravated assault.
The day before, Etterer allegedly stabbed Richard K. Straus, 20, who was taken to East Alabama Medical Center and underwent surgery, according to police reports.
The incident reportedly occurred in their apartment, police said at the time of Etterer’s arrest. The two got into an argument, and Etterer allegedly stabbed Straus with a kitchen knife, police said.
A recent Lee County grand jury indicted Etterer on charges of attempted murder, saying he attempted “to intentionally cause the death of Richard K. Straus by stabbing him with a knife,” according to the indictment.
A warrant was issued, and police arrested him at 8:24 p.m. Friday, according to an Auburn police report.
Etterer’s bond, originally set at $5,000, was set at $25,000 by Circuit Judge John Denson after Etterer’s indictment.
He met bond and was released from the Lee County Detention Facility.
Arraignments are scheduled for Tuesday.
