Shouting turns to fistfight at Auburn business
A verbal exchange sparked a fistfight at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on South College Street in Auburn Sunday night, Auburn police Capt. Tom Stofer said.
A man and his wife and 17-year-old son were walking through the store when two men, ages 22 and 25, passed by. The men exchanged words, and the altercation escalated into a fight, he said.
The victim left the scene before officers arrived and went to the police department to file a report.
Police contacted the other two men involved in the incident. They also contacted EMS personnel, who responded to the department.
The medical personnel treated a small cut under the son’s eye and a hurt finger of a woman who tried to break up the fight.
None of the men required treatment, Stofer said.

Another woman approached the man and cut him on his face and neck with a “bladed instrument,” Stofer said.
The victim was transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment, but the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Stofer said.
“As to the relationship of the offender to the victim, it is being investigated,” he said.
