A driver was sent to the hospital after her car turned over on Society Hill Road Tuesday night, a state trooper at the scene said.
The driver was air-lifted to The Medical Center in Columbus, Ga., the trooper said. He said he would not know the extent of her injuries until he visited the hospital.
The Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers responded to the scene.
A tow truck worked to pull the crumpled mass of metal from a group of trees in the 5900 block of Society Hill Road.
Vanessa Craft, who lives on a nearby street, said she was in her backyard when she heard the wreck.
Craft said at roughly 7 p.m., she heard squealing breaks.
“It lasted for a long time, and then I heard the impact,” she said. “I called 911 as soon as I heard it."
Craft said wrecks are not uncommon along that stretch of road.
“This curve is sharper than it looks,” she said.
