Ready. Set. Shop.
That’s just what thrifty shoppers will be doing at the Kid’s Clothes Connection (kidsclothesconnection.com) Saturday morning.
Much like it has in previous years, the biannual consignment sale will feature a wide array of new and gently worn clothing items for babies, women and children, as well as furniture and household goods.
The items for fall/ winter sale are contributed by community members, who price their items and reap the benefit during the weeklong sale.
Many of the items that aren’t sold are donated to state and local charities, according to Debby Harper, the founder of Kids Clothes Connection.
Harper said she has seen the community’s response to the event steadily grow over the past 14 years.
“The space we’re using for the sale is approximately 65,000-square feet, and we’re using just about all of it with the items we will have for sale,” said Harper, who has more than 100 volunteers assisting her with the sale.
“This sale hopefully gives families a way to stretch their dollars a little further in these scary economic times,” Harper said. ” Families can come here and shop for four or five kids for a fraction of the cost of what they’d pay somewhere else.”
Harper said that thought makes the sale personally rewarding.
“It means so much to me to know that a family that might have had trouble affording Christmas gifts can do so, or a parent that couldn’t purchase name brand clothing for their child, can now do so because of this event,” Harper said.
