MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Governor Bob Riley says President Bush has approved his request for disaster assistance in response to Hurricane Gustav.

The disaster declaration, approved Saturday, makes local governments in Alabama counties eligible to apply for federal and state infrastructure assistance. It also allows individuals in those counties to apply for aid.

The Alabama Emergency Management Agency and local officials will help coordinate the assistance.
