Auburn University student Andrew White is serving as the state and southeastern chair for the John McCain-Sarah Palin college campaign.
White formerly served as president of the AU college Republicans. He became involved in the McCain campaign about two years ago, he said.
“It’s a great honor. I really am excited about it,” he said.
His duties include scheduling voter registration drives, managing door-to-door and phone campaigns and setting up debates in a four-state region comprising Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida.
“The typical get out the vote stuff,” he said.
Twenty-five state college Republicans represent McCain, White said. He was picked from that group.
“The goal is to be ambassadors for Sen. McCain and Palin on university campuses ...,” he said. “I think he is a great American.”
