Boys & Girls Clubs put on annual bowling event

»  Comments | Post a Comment

While ten-pin may not be the sport they perform best in, helping keep young lives on the right track is right up their alley. Their bowling alley that is.
Friday, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County will put on their 2nd Annual Bowling Tournament.
Each bowling team will consist of four members who, for $200, will receive two bowling games, shoes and commemorative T-shirts.
Whether you’re a bowling league veteran or have difficulty staying in your own lane, there’s a good time to be had by all who participate, according to Robyn L. Bridges, board vice-chair for the tournament.
“We’re even giving prizes in categories like ‘worst gutter ball,’” Bridges said. Prizes will also be awarded for best team and best game. Teams may register for the tournament as long as there are still spots available, she added.
The tournament may be all about fun and games, but Bridges understands that is not always the case real life, which is why the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County exists and serves more than 1,200 children annually.
“The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens,” said Bridges.
The Boys & Girls Clubs receive no funding other than grants or donations.
“It is, therefore, critical that we have the continued support of the local community in keeping our Boys & Girls Clubs open and operating,” said Bridges.
