Roy Johnson of Opelika, the former head of the Alabama two-year college system, is scheduled to be sentenced on multiple federal criminal charges Nov. 20.
Johnson was to have been sentenced July 1, but the U.S. District Court in Birmingham rescheduled the hearing Friday.
As part of a plea arrangement, the once-powerful ex-legislator, ex-president of Southern Union State Community College and ex-chancellor agreed to help prosecutors in the long-running investigation of the scandal-ridden system.
In March 2008, Johnson pleaded guilty to 15 federal charges, including bribery, conspiracy to commit bribery and money laundering.
The charges were related to Johnson’s time as chancellor from 2002 to 2006.
He was fired in 2006 amid allegations of nepotism and corruption.
