A 23-year-old Moore’s Mill Golf Course employee died Sunday evening from injuries he sustained after the tractor he was driving tipped over, according to the Lee County Coroner’s office.

Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson said Trenton McLeod, an Auburn University student from Prattville, was driving a tractor on the course at about 7 a.m. Sunday when he hit an embankment, causing the tractor to tip over and pin McLeod under the blower attached to the back of the tractor.

Patterson said a co-worker heard the accident and several came to his aid to free him from underneath the machine. Rescue crews arrived shortly thereafter and airlifted McLeod to the Columbus Medical Center in Columbus, Ga., for treatment of head injuries. She said the injuries could have been caused from McLeod hitting the ground and/or the machine.

McLeod died at the hospital shortly after 8 p.m. EDT, making his the second death of an AU student in 24 hours, Patterson said.

Bradley Langston, 21, of Lakeland, Fla., died of blunt force trauma to the chest at the Columbus Medical Center on Saturday afternoon after he was involved in a one-car accident on Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn.

Patterson said Langston was ejected from his vehicle at about 1 a.m. after it left the roadway between South College Street and Wire Road in Auburn. He was transported from the scene, ultimately to the Columbus Medical Center.

Patterson did not know Sunday if alcohol was a factor in Langston’s accident.

She said the accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and the Auburn Police Division. APD is also investigating McLeod’s accident, she said.

Autopsies were not ordered in either case, Patterson said. Investigators will instead rely on tests run by the hospital.
