A Tuskegee man was sentenced Monday to 25 years for his part in robbing Momma Goldberg’s Deli in Auburn in December.
Lee County District Attorney Nick Abbett said the trial for Charleston George III was set to start Monday morning until the defense agreed to a guilty plea in front of Circuit Court Judge Jacob A. Walker III.
Walker sentenced George to 25 years for first-degree robbery, Abbett said. George and two other men are accused of robbing the Momma Goldberg’s on West Magnolia Avenue on Dec. 2, 2008.
In other matters:
- Lorenzo Jackson entered a guilty plea for shooting into an occupied dwelling. Walker sentenced him to 72 months, Abbett said.
- The trial against Antonio Nixon will start Tuesday morning in Walker’s courtroom. Abbett said Nixon is charged with first-degree burglary and attempted rape at a home outside Phenix City in Lee County. The jury was selected Monday.
- The trial against Derrick Hunter will start Tuesday morning in front of Judge John V. Denson. Abbett said Hunter is charged with drug trafficking.
