MONTGOMERY — Health officials are urging Alabamians to take precautions during a heat wave that has brought record-setting temperatures to the region and been linked to at least one death in southeast Alabama.
Jim McVay said he and other officials are most concerned for individuals who have health problems or are taking certain medications that affect their ability to adapt to the heat.
People should immediately get to a cool place if they feel any of the warning signs including dizziness, nausea, and throbbing headaches.
A woman is thought to have died from heatstroke in Dothan over the weekend.
That area has had record-breaking temperatures over 100 degrees during five days.
Meteorologist Ron Block said the normal high for this time of year in Dothan is 91 degrees.
