Tropical Storm Ida may be past Alabama, but not before she left a little more than six inches of rain on Lee County Tuesday.
Between midnight and mid-morning Tuesday, the county received about four inches of rain, said Rita Smith, public relations manager for Lee County Emergency Management Agency.
Bob Jeswald, chief meteorologist with WRBL in Columbus, Ga., said another two inches was collected throughout the rest of the day.
The rain will taper off on Wednesday, but Jeswald said temperatures will remain cool and winds will be gusty.
“Bundle up,” he advised. “It will be a chilly one.”
Smith said EMA had sporadic reports of flooding in low-lying areas of the county, but no reports of major flooding or property damage.
“We are fortunate,” she said.
If a resident has damage to report, Smith urged them to call the EMA at 334-749-6181.
Smith also urged drivers to use extra caution on the roadways Wednesday as the pavement is bound to be slick because of the rainfall.
The Lee County Highway Department on Tuesday closed a portion of Lee Road 318 north of its intersection with Lee Road 298, near the Lee County-Muscogee County border in the Smiths Station area
due to flooding at a bridge structure. The roadway will remain closed until the water recedes and the department determines it’s safe to travel.
