MONTGOMERY - Gov. Bob Riley has thanked the Alabama Baptist State Convention for supporting the governor's efforts to stop electronic bingo operations in Alabama.
The convention approved a resolution opposing electronic bingo and praising the governor for his efforts to stop the games.
A group of more than 60 Baptist pastors held a news conference Wednesday to announce passage of the resolution.
Riley has established a task force against illegal gambling and is challenging the legality of electronic bingo operations across the state.
