You might have read my column a couple of weeks ago entitled, "To honor veterans, make a lifelong commitment." (If you missed it, click here.)
The Opelika-Auburn News ran a letter to the editor this weekend to the point I made in my column, which was that the government, for all the politicians' speeches, can -- and must -- do a much better job for veterans than they do.
This reader is a veteran of Vietnam, and he has firsthand experience with the VA's medical care. As you'll see in his letter, he thinks highly of his doctors and other medical care professionals who treat him in the VA system. But they don't have what they need to be able to completely and properly care for our vets.
I hope you'll take time to read this man's letter. He served his country with honor; it is our responsibility, yes, but also our privilege, to make his concerns our own.
