Members of the Auburn University Trustee Selection Committee will gather Friday, starting at 8 a.m., in Samford Hall to interview more than 25 people interested in filling a vacancy on the AU Board of Trustees.

The at-large seat currently held by Earlon McWhorter expired in February. He will remain in the seat until the committee finds a replacement and he/she is confirmed by the Alabama Senate.

To be eligible for the seat, one must be a resident of the continental United States and less than 70 years old at the time of the appointment. Also, they can’t be an AU employee or a member of the selection committee.

McWhorter’s age prohibits him from seeking another term.

The committee is comprised of Trustees Paul Spina and Bobby Lowder, Ralph Jordan Jr. and Neil Christopher from the Auburn Alumni Board, and Gov. Bob Riley.

Applications and nominations for the post are still being accepted through Friday.
