Auburn’s Bass Sports Club hosting second annual Fall Classic

Auburn University’s Bass Sports Club will host its second annual Auburn University Fall Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22, on Lake Logan-Martin near Pell City.

At least 10 collegiate teams from across the southeastern United States will be participating in the event, which will have weigh-ins at Lakeside Landing and Resort at 3 p.m. Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday. Participating teams include Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Radford, Montevallo, Freed-Hardeman, Georgia Southern, Southern Mississippi and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Auburn’s team, which is open to all Auburn students, consists of 30 students with a variety of academic majors. Each semester, members compete in qualifying tournaments to determine the top six who will represent Auburn in tournaments the following semester.

The team will compete next semester in the 2009 Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series on these dates: Jan. 23-24, Lake Neely-Henry, Gadsden; Feb. 20-21, Lake Guntersville, Guntersville; March 13-14, Wheeler Lake, Joe Wheeler State Park near Rogersville; and the series championship April 17-18, Wilson Lake, Florence.
