A fight at an Auburn apartment early Saturday morning ended in two men being transported to the hospital, one beaten with a flashlight and one suffering stab wounds, according to a statement released by Auburn police Monday.

A 21-year-old from Auburn and a 22-year-old from Eufaula were involved in a fight at an apartment complex in the 200 block of East University drive at 2:30 a.m., according to the statement and police reports.

The 22-year-old apparently hit the other with a metal flashlight, and the 21-year-old apparently retaliated with a pocketknife, Auburn police Capt. Tom Stofer said.

Neither man lives at the apartment complex, according to the statement.

The 22-year-old was transported by private vehicle to East Alabama Medical Center in what appeared to be serious condition, Stofer said.

Police are still investigating the incident, he said.
