Opelika police are searching for an Auburn man they say is a suspect in connection with a pair of stabbings that sent one person to the hospital and injured another Monday night.
Charles Micah Ledbetter, 26, faces charges of attempted murder, burglary in the first degree and assault in the second degree, Opelika police Capt. Allan Elkins said.
The charges stem from a burglary and assault that occurred at 10:57 p.m. Monday at the Ski Lodge Apartments in the 3500 block of Birmingham Highway, Elkins said.
Elkins said the two victims were Ledbetter’s 27-year-old wife and a 24-year-old man. The victims encountered Ledbetter after they entered the woman’s apartment, Elkins said.
The woman was stabbed approximately 15 to 20 times, puncturing her lung, Elkins said. Her male acquaintance was stabbed in the shoulder, Elkins said.
The woman was transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment. The case remains under investigation, Elkins said.
