Opelika to honor Vietnam vets Nov. 11

The City of Opelika will be honoring Vietnam veterans with a special ‘Welcome Home Service on Nov. 11.

Vietnam Veterans who are motorcycle riders are invited and needed to participate in a mini-Rolling Thunder event on Veterans Day to honor and welcome home these Vietnam Veterans.  Other motorcycle riders are invited to participate also.  Information is needed by October 30th. 

The event, sponsored by The City of Opelika, will begin at 8 a.m. at The Elks Club at 1944 Opelika Road in Auburn with a breakfast. The City of Opelika will be honoring women who have or who are now serving in the military and will have a special recognition service recognizing the women and all veterans. 

At the breakfast meeting, there will be a special Vietnam Vet recognition service. After the breakfast, the motorcycle riders will ride from The Elks Club to the Opelika City Hall for a service at The Memorial.
