The search for the suspect in Saturday’s fatal shooting continues. Police are looking for David Latravis Pitts, 25, of Auburn, according to a statement released by police.
Auburn Assistant Police Chief Tommy Dawson said Monday evening his officers were still searching for Pitts and he had nothing to indicate that Pitts was not still in the area.
“We certainly hope he would come down and turn himself in because eventually, we’re going to find him,” he said. “…We have assistance of the U.S. Marshals in locating him.”
Dawson said once arrested, Pitts will be charged with murder.
Asia Shehlander Scott, 22, was killed, and Cierra Marshaye Cobb, 20, was injured at Webster’s Crossing mobile home park on Webster Road. Cobb is still hospitalized at East Alabama Medical Center, according to the statement. No other information was available from the hospital Monday.
The incident occurred outside, Dawson said. Both victims lived in the Auburn area, he said.
Anyone with information about Pitts’ whereabouts is asked to call 501-3140, anonymously on the tip line at 501-7337 or the 911 emergency line.
