The Disunited States of America?

The Drudge Report has a disturbing piece this morning about the analysis a Russian political observer has provided about the United States, given the current economic crisis.
Click here for the full piece, but the bottom line is that this analyst believes the USA is headed for breakup—its place on the world stage filled by China and, of course, Russia.
Why? In his words:
A whole range of reasons. Firstly, the financial problems in the U.S. will get worse. Millions of citizens there have lost their savings. Prices and unemployment are on the rise. General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work. Governors are already insistently demanding money from the federal center. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles.
Other factors in the collapse include the United States’s “vulnerable political setup”, “lack of unified national laws”, and “divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions.“
The world’s last remaining superpower will break up into six parts, the analyst predicts:
The Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population;
The South, with its Hispanics;
Texas, where independence movements are on the rise;
The Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality;
Five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and
The northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong.
This analyst began making this prediction 10 years ago, Drudge reports, when the economy was strong.
Events of the past three months have lent credibility to his predictions, which seemed to outlandish and impossible just a decade ago.
One more thing: The analyst notes that Russia may have an opportunity to take back Alaska. “It was only granted on lease, after all,“ he said.
Maybe Sarah Palin will wind up with some foreign policy experience through the Alaska National Guard after all.

More thoughts about Professor Panarin’s predictions:
I’m also surprised he didn’t predict that the USA would become a territorial possession of Mexico or South America because of our increasing Hispanic population.
Perhaps Panarin is using the USSR as his model in making his predictions, but I don’t think it’s a good model because the USSR as we knew it during the “Cold War” period following WWII and before its collapse was formed in a different way than the way the USA was formed, some of it being by annexing other nearby formerly independent nations.

I believe Professor Panarin is essentially correct about the state of our economy and the fall of the USA from its position as the dominant world power, but very little else.
To paraphrase Will Rogers, all I know is what I read and hear, from which I have to say that Panarin may not be well versed on American geography and demographics. First he distinguishes Texas from the rest of the south, which I assume he means are the southeastern states, where he says the Hispanic population is (I guess) the determining factor in separating themselves. If that’s true, Texas certainly should be included with the rest of the south as perhaps Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and southern California should be. In fact the Hispanic population is increasing almost everywhere. I haven’t heard of a growing Chinese population in the Pacific coast states, nor of an influential Native American population anywhere.
I’m surprised Panarin didn’t predict that Utah will stand alone because of its large Mormon population.
Maybe I should read and listen more, or at least from different sources.

Are you sure he’s not describing Russia’s present and future? Reminds me of the reports various think tanks cranked out in the old days to prove the decadent West would collapse.
The US will eventually fall though, it is the nature of human institutions. However, like England the decline will be slow, barely noticeable at times and sharply noticed other times.
