What’s good for the goose ...

Hey, speaking of Russian opposition to the United States missile defense system in Eastern Europe, guess who’s getting his very own missile defense system?

If you guessed Russian President Dmitri “Don’t call me Vladimir” Medvedev, you win!!

From The New York Times on Sept. 26:

After a military exercise on Friday in the southern city of Orenburg, near the border with Kazakhstan, the Russian president, Dmitri A. Medvedev, declared that by 2020 Russia would construct new types of warships, including nuclear submarines carrying cruise missiles and an unspecified air and space defense system.

Hmm ... I didn’t see anything in that story about Russia making assurances that the to-be-developed system will be purely defensive in nature ... and I didn’t see anything in there saying that Medvedev is looking forward to sharing the blueprints for the program with the United States.

Excellent!! More reasons to let them cower us into submission and break our agreements with key U.S. allies.
