AREA ROUNDUP: AJHS tops Russell County

Auburn Jr. High’s 8th-grade team hammered Russell County, 36-18, Thursday.

Khale Leonard had two touchdowns and rushed for 150 yards.

Marquin Mitchell had a touchdown pass to Parker Heideman and Mitchell also rushed for a TD.

Austin Williams also added a touchdown for Auburn (1-2).

Auburn’s 8th-graders host Eufaula next Thursday.

Smiths Station loses second game
Smiths Station’s varsity volleyball team suffered just it’s second loss of the year, falling to Russell County in three games.

The Panthers fell, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-23.

Smiths Station will try to rebound at Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday.

Beulah volleyball falls in tri-match
DADEVILLE — Beulah played in a tri-match at Dadeville and fell to Dadeville and Beauregard.

Beulah lost to Dadeville 13-25 and 14-25.

Emily Miller and Cassie Messer had two aces,  Meagan Thomas picked up an ace and Michelle Taylor had a kill.

Beulah then lost to Beauregard, 14-25, 21-25.

Miller had two aces, Taylor had a block and three kills. Harley Thrower had two aces and Olivia Martin had a block.

The next game for Beulah is next Thursday when it travels to B.B. Comer.

Beulahs’ JV team also fell Thursday, dropping two games to Dadeville.
