AREA ROUNDUP: Smiths Station earns 15th volleyball win
The Smiths Station volleyball team is on a roll.
Tuesday night, the Panthers beat Opelika, 3-2, (22-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8) to improve to 15-1 overall and 4-0 in Class 6A-Area 8.
AHS volleyball wins
Tarnesha Stephens led the Auburn High volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-18) win over Central on Tuesday night, racking up 12 kills, 13 digs and three aces.
Tiffany Radnitz had 16 digs, three aces, two kills and two assists for Auburn (15-12, 3-1), while Hayden Pangle had five aces, two kills and two digs. Leah Zutter had 24 assists, four digs and two kills.
Beauregard 9th grade wins in overtime
REELTOWN — Charles Floyd’s touchdown and Shaquille Williams’ 2-point conversion in overtime lifted Beauregard’s ninth-grade football team (3-1) to a dramatic, 20-18, win over Reeltown.
Floyd also had a 60-yard TD pass to Williams earlier in the night. Defensively, Dake Rivers had eight tackles, while Josh Spence had an interception.
Wacoochee sweeps
The Wacoochee Junior High volleyball team beat Russell County Middle School, 2-0 (25-7, 25-22).
Angel Kilpatrick had an ace and two kills, Janie Weed had four aces and one kill and Abbie Bryant had two aces and one kill for the Panthers.
Alyssa Nevels had one kill. Kiara Williams and Kaleigh Hudson each had five aces, Autumn Evilsizer, Jessica Weed, Kristin Moss and Mallory Mills each had three aces. Julia Crews had two aces.
The Panthers improve to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in area play.
