Editor’s Note: This is the second in a series of stories previewing Friday’s high school football games. Today: Class 5A-2A. Friday: Game of the Week and Class 6A.

Valley is one of the area’s hottest teams right now.

And the Rams are looking to keep their scorching run going Friday with a Class 5A-Region 2 meeting with Booker T. Washington.

After dropping its first game of the year to 6A Auburn, Valley has rattled off five consecutive wins and sits all alone at the top of the Region 2 standings — one game up on Beauregard and Tallassee, who the Rams play in the following two weeks.

Valley kept its strong run going last week with a 16-0 win over Eufaula.

BTW (2-4) survived a battle of last-place teams in Region 2 last week, beating Rehobeth, 26-21.

Class 3A
Beulah (0-6) at B.B. Comer (0-6)

Something will have to give in this battle of teams trying to find their way into the win column.

Both teams have struggled mightily in 2008 on both sides of the ball.

Beulah, a playoff team in 2007, has been hampered by injuries all season. The Bobcats are scoring just 11.7 points per game while giving up 41.8.

B.B. Comer is just slightly better on paper — scoring just 12.2 points per game and giving up 31.3.

Beulah fell to Trinity, 42-0 last week while Comer narrowly fell to Marbury, 28-22.

Class 2A
Reeltown (5-1) at Keith (5-1)

Reeltown’s visit Friday to Keith will have major playoff implications in Class 2A-Region 3.

Reeltown and St. Jude are currently tied for first in Class 2A-Region 3 with identical 4-0 marks.

Keith is one game back after losing its first game of the year last week, 34-14, to St. Jude.

Reeltown beat Zion Chapel, 43-0.

Ohatchee (1-5) at Lanett (4-2)
Lanett is trying to snap a sudden two-game losing streak.

A week after falling to rival Valley, 35-12, Lanett was pounded by No. 2 Clay County, 41-8.

But the Panthers get a bit of a break Friday.

After tough battles with 5A Valley and ranked Clay County, the Panthers host an Ohatchee team with just one win and a five-game losing streak on the year.
