DIXIE ROUNDUP: Auburn Blue tops Auburn Orange
VALLEY — Auburn Blue is still alive in the Dixie Youth AAA (9-10) All-Star District 10 tournament after beating rival Auburn Orange, 13-4, at the Valley Sportsplex on Thursday.
Blue, which had a loss going into the game, got strong pitching performances from Brooks Fuller and Bryan Carter, who held Orange to only two hits.
Harris White was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for Blue, T.D. Roof was 2-for-3 with a double, and Clay Kiteley was 2-for-2.
Orange, which was undefeated before Thursday, earned a bye to Saturday’s championship game, which will be played at 6 p.m.
Blue will play Smiths Station tonight at 6 for the right to face Orange again in the championship.
Auburn Orange defeated Smiths Station, 8-4, on Wednesday night.
Andrew Naismith struck out nine over six innings of work to get the win for Auburn Orange.
Rowdey Jordan was 2-for-3 with two runs, Kason Howell was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Naismith was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Trey Woodham was 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI, Ted Wages was 1-for-3 with two RBI, T.J. Scott was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run and Hunter Harper and Turk Pettit both scored a run.
AUM White eliminates Opelika Dixie Boys
The All-Star season came to an end for the Opelika Dixie Boys as they lost, 5-2, to AUM White at West Ridge Park on Wednesday night.
Lestin Cook got the loss on the mound in relief of starter Zach Wills.
Cook had a two-run home run, Duncan Asbury had two hits and Josh Pointer had one hit for Opelika, offensively.
