The angel child of the Brady Bunch announced this week through her book “Here’s the story” that not only did she become hooked on drugs, but she sold her body for the stuff. What turned Marcia the wrong way? Her dreams of marrying her dentist, Dr. Vogel, in season 4, episode 13 were crushed and she turned to the dark side. How in the world could she snort white powder after brother Greg broke her nose with the football?
Where was Alice when Marcia needed her? Without Alice, that family would not have survived. Alice cooked for the Bradys, cleaned for the Bradys, practically did everything for the Bradys. Did Alice raise the kids by herself? What in the world did Mrs. Brady do? Was she too busy doing Wesson cooking oil commercials? Mr. Brady died of AIDS. Peter Brady’s voice is still crackling. Greg is in a whirlwind singing tour of county fairs. Bobby, Cindy and Jan? I have no clue. Marcia had nowhere to turn. If only she had married the dentist ... when she was 16.
But she’s clean now. Judging by her pearly whites (above) I’d say she enjoyed her trips to the dentist. I wonder, if she were a Partridge instead of a Brady, would things be different?

Democratic challenger for Alabama’s Third Congressional District Josh Segall was added to the party’s Red to Blue program, which I’m told by Dems is a big deal and told by Republicans is not. Both the Segall camp and Mike Rogers camp decided it was enough to send releases to the media. Here we go with today’s campaign spin:
From the Segall Camp
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today added Josh Segall to its “Red to Blue” program. Segall earned a spot in the competitive program by establishing significant local support and skillfully showing Alabama’s voters that he stands for change and will represent new priorities.
The Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, and strategic support. The program introduces Democratic supporters to new, competitive candidates in order to help expand the fundraising base for their campaigns.
“I’m proud to have such strong national support,” Segall said. “Rogers has a long record of voting against the people of this district when it mattered most, and this support will help us continue to get our message out to voters.”
DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen said, “Josh is running a solid campaign and is committed to making things easier for middle class families in his district. With less than 21 days to make his case for change to voters, the Red to Blue program will give Josh the financial and structural edge to be even more competitive in November.“
Josh entered this race because his work as the founder of Homegrown Alabama showed there is a place for innovation and entrepreneurialism in government. Josh believes that with new leadership, the third district can stand up for every veteran, every farmer and every worker struggling to make ends meet. Josh is a fourth generation Alabamian and Montgomery native and is currently practicing civil defense and bankruptcy law at a local firm.
Red to Blue was a proven success in the 2006 cycle. In 2006, the Red to Blue program raised nearly $22.6 million for 56 campaigns averaging $404,000 per campaign. Red to Blue was also responsible for solidifying the structure of dozens of campaigns and making a real difference for Democrats across America.
Yawn.
From the Rogers Camp
In a last ditch effort to prop up the uninspiring campaign of Joshua Segall, liberal Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has placed Montgomery attorney Joshua Segall on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” list.
“It should come as no surprise that Joshua Segall, a favorite of liberal extremist groups, would receive the full support of the National Democrat Party. Segall has ties to the ACLU, and he would pay Pelosi back with his first vote in Congress,” said Skipper.
“Educated up north in the Ivy League, Joshua Segall cannot relate to average, hard working Alabamians that are struggling in this economy. The voters of East Alabama want a member of Congress like them who is going to fight for their interests, and help improve our economy by keeping taxes low. That’s Mike Rogers, he’s our way of fighting back,” added Skipper.
Yawn.

I was asked tonight at the gym (yes, my shoulder’s still on death row) if I thought Tommy Tuberville will coach at Auburn next season. I weighed the options, even considered the $6 million buyout clause in his contract.
Then I said, “no.“
“Seventy five to 80 percent no.“
After some thought, those numbers might be high. OK, I’ll go 60/40.
I don’t have flashy connections nor frequent conversations with people in the know at AU, but I know one thing, where there is smoke there is fire. Considering the mushroom cloud that has ascended over east Alabama in the last few days, I’d say there’s a raging inferno inside. His job security wouldn’t be at the forefront of everyone’s minds if something wasn’t up. Maybe “something” is more of an overhaul that does not include the head coach’s employment at Auburn.
I’m not saying he should be dismissed nor am I saying he should not be dismissed. It’s just a hunch. We all have those.
Maybe the power brokers at AU will fire him. Maybe Tuberville is burned out and ready to step aside. Only he can answer that question. Regardless of what happens, he’s had a good run. His 10-year record speaks for itself.
Winning games in the homestretch would solve a lot of ills. I’m not sure how terminal this disease is.

I truly believe that a large portion of Americans will vote for a presidential candidate based on race. You tell me racism is dead? Not a chance. It’s alive and well, and it’s going both ways. Just a hunch. That’s all I have to say about that.

A man called this morning and told me he’s surprised I hadn’t been shot by now. That said, I personally invited him over to come do it himself. He didn’t accept the invitation.
I just love people sometimes.
