Charred beyond recognition

Driving up Interstate 85 Sunday morning just north of the KIA plant in West Point, Ga., I couldn’t help but notice the smoldering remains of an 18-wheeler which ran off the southbound side of the highway. Authorities were already on the scene. I didn’t think anyone would surive that fiery mess.

I was right.

The LaGrange Daily News reported the driver, who worked for Oxford Express of Ontario, Canada, was burned beyond recognition. The newspaper reported the truck was bound for Brundidge with a load of frozen waffles.

Upon my return late Sunday afternoon, the right lane southbound was closed, creating a bit of a traffic mess. The trailer remained stuck in the trees, but a big, red diesel tow-truck was getting ready to extract the vehicle was busy. Excuse the sorry photograph. It’s the best I could do with a cell phone at 30 mph.
