Hubbard blasts Davis in column

District 79 state representative and Alabama Republican Party Chairman Mike Hubbard, R-Auburn, penned a spirited column regarding Congressman Artur Davis and former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.
Here it is:

Artur Davis and His Carnival of Conspiracy
By Rep. Mike Hubbard

It is not often that the Chairman of one political party has praise for a member of another party, but, at one point, I actually thought highly of Congressman Artur Davis.  He seemed to be one who was willing to reach across partisan lines and depart from the extreme liberal views of the Democrat Party when reason and common sense told him to do so.

My opinion recently changed 180 degrees when, in a remarkable turn of events, Davis became the top defender and advocate of former Alabama governor and convicted felon Don Siegelman.

It was only a few months ago that Congressman Davis dismissed the ridiculous and unfounded accusations that Don Siegelman’s conviction by jury was the result of a politically-motivated prosecution rather than the greed, graft and corruption that ran rampant in his administration.

But in a congressional hearing held this week, he showed his true colors – that of a partisan who will say anything and do anything to gain the attention of the media and the liberal left. He showed that he is willing to sell his soul for political gain.

Much of Davis’ supposed argument for Siegelman’s innocence centers around the affidavit of a shadowy attorney with ties to some of the Riley administration’s biggest political enemies.  In her filing, attorney Dana Jill Simpson claims knowledge of a conspiracy to falsely prosecute Siegelman that sounds more like the plot of a John Grisham novel than anything that could happen in the real world.

According to her story, the Ku Klux Klan, the White House, Karl Rove, one of Richard Scrushy’s defense attorneys and a host of other characters arranged an elaborate plan to unjustly place Siegelman behind bars.  When questioned by attorneys with the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, however, Simpson’s story fell to pieces, and she has since refused to talk with the press or anyone else about her concocted tale.

Some members of the House Judiciary Committee have even suggested that her affidavit be investigated for possible perjury charges. Similarly, newspapers across the state have looked into her claims and proven time and time again that her facts simply do not add up.

When the facts are objectively reviewed, it is obvious that the only person to blame for Don Siegelman currently residing in Oakdale, Louisiana as federal inmate #24775-007 is Don Siegelman.  Yet the conspiracy theorists and the liberal left, including Artur Davis, continue to spin tales to the contrary.

I honestly believe Congressman Davis knows as well as anyone that Siegelman was convicted by an unbiased jury because he corrupted government and committed crimes while serving as governor.

Unfortunately, Artur Davis’ personal political ambitions will not allow him to publicly admit the truth.

“TWO OIL MEN ARE MAKING MILLIONS FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR AFFILITES”
Bush and Cheney have managed to get oil to close at above $97.00 a barrel (an all time high), gold is near an all time high and the U.S. dollar is at its all time low. There is more Federal money going to civilian mercenaries than to American solders. During the last seven years our borders have been left open, now we have over 14 million illegal immigrants. Every military power in the world has managed to slip spies up through Mexico and across our borders unchallenged.

Bush’s bad appointments have been in his own personal interests; he has disregarded his oath to protect and serve the U.S.A. Good job guys you have made millionaires of your GOP affiliates by awarding big government contracts to their sham organizations at the cost of bringing our country into a recession. You have redefined Democracy, the executive powers, our Judicial system and the role of our National Guards and the Military Reserves.

Alabama is right in the middle of Bush’s corruption. Bush has had to help Bob Riley win both his elections for governor. Slick Bob is being groomed as a potential vice president candidate for the 2008 election. But what about his connection to Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon during the 2002 election. Also, there is another cloud over Riley’s head that involves their conspiracy to eliminate his opponent Don Siegelman in the 2006 election which is starting to get national attention.

By showing no shame and declaring executive privileges the occupants in the white house have become fugitives that are untouchable. Charges can’t be brought against them, because the judicial system works for the executive branch in which the President is the man in charge. Congress has not been able to start an impeachment process because there are very few conservative (honest) Republican’s remaining in Congress who align themselves with the traditional Republican values. Bush’s new group of corrupt politicians are still using the name of the GOP and they still run on the Republican ticket; however, they are aligning themselves on Bush’s and Cheney’s corruption.

What’s the next move once a new president assumes office? What could possibly be Bush’s plan? How are they going to avoid prosecutions and possibly war crime charges? How are they going to prevent the Feds. from seizing their bank accounts and their assets. Will Bush perform midnight pardons? But, first they have to be charged with a crime to be pardoned. Who then would pardon Bush?

I believe that they have all their eggs in one basket. The new President will have to be a close ally. With so many facing possible prosecutions, I believe that what they did to get Bob Riley elected governor is just an example of what might happen to their presidential opponents.

I believe that Karl Rove has never been debriefed and that he is still using the NSA to do wiretapping to gather whatever information that he needs to eliminate top presidential candidates. I believe that Bush is using the Justice department to investigate all presidential candidates, and that Karl Rove is being given the results of their investigations to be used to blackmail and to generate smear campaign ads. This is the same thing that he and Donal Segretti done for Nixon. Segretti went to prison; however Karl was only twenty one and escaped prosecution. Maybe he won’t be as lucky the next time. If Karl’s tactics fail to get their candidate in the lead, I believe that Bush’s and Cheney’s crimes are so serious that the leading candidate will be assassinated regardless of whether he or she is a conservative Republican or a Democrat.

To Bush, Cheney and other political leaders in high places:

Most of you are senior citizens acting selfish and cruel to your fellow men like you are going to live forever.

For it is written by God: “IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE, BUT AFTER THIS THE JUDGEMENT. FOR MAN THAT IS BORN OF A WOMAN IS OF FEW DAYS AND FULL OF TROUBLE. YOU COMETH FORTH LIKE A FLOWER, AND IS CUT DOWN; YOU FLEETH AS A SHADOW, AND CONTINUETH NOT.“

You need to live every day like it’s your last for it maybe!

CAUTION! What you do here on earth determines where and how you spend eternity.

Your days are numbered. You have an appointment with death that everyone must keep.

I know there are some who feed on the ‘liberal vs. neocon’ circus sideshow that is politics today but… geez… they are ALL corrupt and so to see one calling the other dishonest is just disgusting.

This stuff gets so old.

Thanks for posting. I’m just glad someone out there is reading the blog. Will post folks’ political commentary here from time to time. I’m non-partisan, but I’m happy to provide a forum for all sides.

How can any man who decides he wants to run for political office, on cue suddenly experience a miraculous born again Christian conversion…not being critical, the coincidence is just too opportunistic. A story right out of Hollywood—*Bush said to James Robinson: ‘I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can’t explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. .. I know it won’t be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1075950,00.html

From those you who believe in George bush, I ask: What kind of Christian would cold-bloodedly attack an innocent country, using lies as a pretext?

What kind of Christian would do anything & everything possible to make life more difficult for Americans? *exception to that—those George calls his base, you know the top 1%...those who already have everything a man could want ..10 times over?

What kind of Christian would invoke God and or Jesus name merely to further benefit himself and his lust for power?

My “God” is about giving, kindness, love, compassion, goodness, charity, caring, help, and love thy neighbor!

My faith says; help those who are down-trodden, the meek, the elderly, the tired, those down on their luck, the weary, the handicapped, the sick, the starving, the dying, and the poor!

My god sees no nationality; my god does not place the importance of an American life as superior in importance to the lives of other peoples from other Nations.

My God includes all the Worlds peoples as his children, not just those people who are in the top 1% tax bracket.

The god George bush worships can’t be the same god I know…Why you ask? George bush actions speak volumes about who this man really is; his actions say greed is good; life is expendable—as long as it’s in the pursuit of material objects and or political advantage; lying is justified and excused as long as the lying and dying is for self-centered selfishness and or corporate gain!

President George bush and his actions SCREAM—the rich should be given advantage; the poor should be keep at a disadvantage!!

Mike Hubbard and Judge Fuller will end up in federal Prison. Many republican operators will get whats coming to them.

Republicans are anti-American and anti children.
