New holiday tradition

Joseph and I teed off a new Christmas Eve tradition this afternoon at Grand National. From here on out, we will golf together each Christmas Eve. The Short Course (all par 3s) is one of the most enjoyable courses I’ve played and it’s quite challenging despite its diminuative length.

Greens fees were $20 with a RTJ Trail Card, which is among the best deals in golf.

The course is magnificent with rolling hills, plenty of water and treacherous greens. It’s very sightly and doesn’t leave you feeling beaten up like its older brothers on the premesis. My 79 was barely good enough to beat my 9-year-old, who fired an 82. I think he had a few provisions though. That’s ok, I might have had a provision or two myself at times. Joseph even made his first birdie today, sinking an 8-foot putt to score a 2 on the course’s third hole. That will certainly be something he won’t forget. No, I didn’t get a birdie.

Have a Merry Christmas. Next up on our holiday golf agenda is The Oceans par 3 course in Daytona Beach Shores, Fla. It’s $10 a pop. Gotta love that.
