Cannon 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cannon are happily celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary today. Effie and Lewis were married in a double ring ceremony on August 23rd, 1959, at First United Methodist Church of Winnie, Texas. 
Although both are native Texans, the couple has lived in Auburn since 1971 and are now retired. Lewis taught Political Science and worked with state, county and local governments while at Auburn University. Effie was a high school English teacher and the founder of the International Baccalaureate program for the Auburn City Schools.  In retirement, they both enjoy travel, grandchildren, and yard beautification.

The Cannons have children in Alabama and Texas. Stephanie and Ron West live in Helena with daughter, Marli. John and Leanna Cannon reside in Carrollton, Texas (near Dallas), with their daughters, Caroline and Madeline.

The family spent a week together at the beach in July to commemorate this special occasion.
