White, McDowell

Maj. Gen. John and Mrs. Robin White of Lanett, AL, formerly of Auburn, announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby Elizabeth White, to James Addison McDowell, son of Mr. Kenneth and Mrs. Donna McDowell of North Augusta, SC, formerly of Valley, AL.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Kirby Underwood and the late Mrs. Sybil Underwood of Valley, the late Robert F. Howell, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur (Betty) White of Valley.  She is also the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Willie Jarvis of Valley.

She is currently a student at Savannah Technical College pursuing a degree in nursing.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Ethel Henry and the late Mr. Edward Ford Henry of Lanett and Mr. James McDowell and the late Mrs. Margaret McDowell of Valley.

He is currently serving in the United States Coast Guard at Station Tybee in Tybee Island, GA.

An August 29, 2009 wedding is planned at First Baptist Church Shawmut in Valley, AL.

Following the wedding, the couple, along with their daughter, Tyler Elizabeth, will reside on Wilmington Island in Savannah, GA.
