Reid, Blackwell

Auburn, Ala. – Mary Deanna Reid and John Arthur Blackwell were united in marriage at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Farmville Baptist Church in Auburn, Ala.  Rev. William R. Cannon II of Auburn and Dr. Robert J. Lehn and Rev. David M. Beck, both of Westside Baptist Church of Martinez, Ga., officiated.

Deanna is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Earl Reid of Grovetown, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Allen Jackson Brown and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Shockley Brown of Auburn, Ala. and the late Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Reid of Moravian Falls, N.C.  She is a graduate of Augusta Preparatory Day School and is a senior in the Interior Design program of Auburn University College of Human Sciences. She is employed by Auburn Reprographics & Supply, Inc.

John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Glenn Blackwell of Orange City, Fla. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clarence Blackwell of Orange City, Fla. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Worley Box of Birmingham, Ala.  He is a graduate of DeLand High School in DeLand, Fla. He is a senior in the Accounting program of Auburn University School of Business.

Given in marriage by her father, Deanna chose her hometown church youth group friend, Sarah Elizabeth Robelen of Grovetown, Ga., as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Elizabeth Blackwell, sister of the groom of Orange City, Fla.; Maria Elizabeth Reynolds, friend from high school and the Augusta Children’s Chorale of North Augusta, S.C.; and Jackie Rose Townsend, college and church friend of Auburn. Brittany Lynne Reid served as junior bridesmaid and Tiffany Ann Reid was flower girl, both cousins of the bride of Chattanooga, Tenn.

John chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Stewart Boone of New York, N.Y. and Jonathan Scott Boone of Maitland, Fla., both brothers of the groom, and David Griffin Reid, brother of the bride of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Robert Michael Reid, cousin of the bride of Chattanooga, Tenn., served as junior groomsman. Madden Scott Boone, nephew of the groom of Maitland, Fla., was ring bearer.

Ushers were Robert Eugene Reid of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Steven Kelly Reid of Wilkesboro, N.C., both uncles of the bride. Ministering in music were Dr. Matthew Chetta of Ann Arbor, Mich., violin; Melinda Dressler of Birmingham, Ala., piano; Scott Johnson of Evans, Ga., trumpet; Brandon McGuiness, of Nashville, Tenn., soloist and guitar; and Judy Ramsey of Martinez, Ga., organ. The wedding director was Dottie Miller of Martinez, Ga. Guest attendants were Erin Zenah of Birmingham, Ala. and Lauren Wilson of Huntsville, Ala.

Following the ceremony, a dinner was held at Saugahatchee Country Club. The newlyweds honeymooned in Daytona Beach, Fla., followed by a cruise to the Bahamas. The couple resides in Auburn.
