Hundreds of people showed up for the second annual Foundation for Auburn’s Continuing Enrichment in Schools (FACES) 5K and fun run at Richland Road Elementary School on Sunday.
Last year, the event raised about $3,000 for FACES, whose main purpose is to provide mini-grants of $600 for teachers in Auburn City Schools.
“We funded (last year) $23,000 for the school system,” Jenifer Lovvorn, director for FACES and public relations for FACES, said.
Sunday’s event is a good opportunity to get families outside together doing something healthy, she said, and all the money goes to a good cause.
“To help the foundation and help fund the grants that go back to classrooms,” she said.
The fun run was a one-mile run/walk, the 5K was 3.1 miles. There were also inflatables, music and face-painting at Richland on Sunday.
