Alabama State Troopers responded to an accident on Interstate 85 in Macon County late Friday afternoon but declined to release many details.

The dispatcher at the Opelika post Friday evening said it was an injury-type accident that occurred around 5 p.m., near the 47 mile marker, not far from the Lee County line. She didn’t know how many vehicles were involved or how many people were injured. She said no one died, even though a helicopter was called in to make a transport.

Traffic traveling northbound was stopped for 30 to 45 minutes while debris from the accident was cleaned up, the dispatcher said.

No more details could be released from the office, since the accident is still under investigation, she added.
