AUBURN - The Auburn University College of Science and Mathematics will host more than 1,500 fifth- through eighth-grade Alabama students and their teachers for AU Explore, its annual science and math open house event, on Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in AU’s state-of the-art Sciences Center. The event is free of charge.

With interactive hands-on exhibits, AU Explore will introduce students to the roles of science and math in everyday lives. Textbook concepts will come alive with interactive displays in chemistry, physics, geology and biology. COSAM faculty, graduate and undergraduate students will lead students in more than 40 “Science Fun Shops,” hands-on mini-courses on various science- and math-related topics.

The Southeastern Raptor Center and the Herpetology Research Lab will present Demo Shows at Bibb Graves Amphitheater from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The finale of the morning’s program will be an outdoor Science Carnival in which students must answer grade-appropriate science questions to earn the chance to participate in games and rides and to earn prizes.
