The pharmacy in the Bruno’s Supermarket in Auburn will close within the next two to four weeks, according to a written statement from the stores’ corporate office.

An official closing date is not yet available, spokeswoman Jenny Brooks stated in an e-mail communication.

“There are no plans to close the store in Auburn,” Brooks said. “The only portion of the Auburn store that is closing is the pharmacy.”

The pharmacy is one of 22 Bruno’s pharmacies to close, Bruno’s President Kent Moore said in a written statement released by Brooks.

“We are closing these pharmacies because of their consistently low performance over the last several years and the lack of prospect for turning them around,” Moore said in the statement.

Bruno’s is selling the inventory and prescription records to CVS/pharmacy, which plans to interview the roughly 60 pharmacy employees nationwide affected by the closings, according to the statement.

Employees not offered a comparable job with CVS will get severance packages.

Pharmacy closings in Bruno’s and Food World include locations in Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery and the Florida panhandle, according to the statement.
