The Auburn University chapter of the American Association of University Professors will hold a forum and panel discussion about the Auburn University strategic plan at 4 p.m. Monday, March 24, in 202 Thach Hall.
The panel will include AU President Jay Gogue; Senior Associate Provost Sharon Gaber; Blake Gerard, president-elect, Auburn University Montgomery chapter, AAUP; and Robert Locy, chair, University Senate, Auburn University. It will be moderated by William Trimble, president, Auburn University AAUP.
Auburn’s strategic plan is currently a draft of 62 “recommended strategic directions” for the Auburn University System, including increasing Auburn’s graduation rate to the top 25 percent of land-grant institutions or requiring undergraduate students to demonstrate international skills.
The list is a result of an online survey, department meetings and focus groups with students, faculty, staff and local and state residents since October. The entire draft is online, where people can offer feedback.
The president’s office will narrow the list to 25 or 30 ideas for the final draft, which will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval next month.
