The Opelika BFGoodrich plant will officially close its doors Friday afternoon, said Tate Hoxworth, a representative of Michelin North America, the parent company of BFGoodrich.
Although the plant has been reducing its work force over the past several weeks, there are still about 400 employees
working one shift from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the plant.
At the moment, things are winding down at the plant where, just a few months ago, more than 1,000 people worked.
“Actually right now (there’s) not a lot (happening),” Hoxworth said. “They’re cleaning up this week.”
The remaining employees are cleaning equipment and making sure things are packed and ready to be shipped, he said.
