Director of AU ATAC named senior examiner for Alabama quality award

Henry Burdg, director of the Auburn Technical Assistance Center (ATAC) at Auburn University, has achieved examiner recertification and recently was appointed Senior Examiner for the 2008 Alabama Quality Award.

Modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the Alabama Quality Award recognizes and honors organizations whose past or recent innovations in areas of production, service or management have resulted in increased productivity and quality.
Burdg completed 24 hours of Baldrige-based training to attain recertification at the Alabama Productivity Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala., who has administered the award since 1986.
Award categories are in the areas of manufacturing sector, service sector, small business sector, education, health care and non-profit. Burdg has served as an Alabama Quality Award Examiner since 2001. As Senior Examiner, Burdg will lead quality teams in the review and site visits of organizations seeking the Alabama Quality Award.
Some 33 states throughout the U.S. presently have active quality awards programs based on the Malcolm Baldrige criteria.

Auburn Technical Assistance Center was established in 1976 and is an affiliate of the Alabama Technology Network and an Economic Development Administration University Center. As an Outreach arm of the Auburn University College of Business, ATAC provides business and technical assistance, customized training, and consultation in implementing value-added strategies to manufacturers and other businesses, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies in Alabama and the Southeast.
