Auburn firefighters responded Saturday morning to a fire at Auburn Trail apartments in which two apartment units sustained damage.
“The fire originated in the electrical wiring in a restroom area ceiling fan and spread to a ceiling joist,” said Auburn Fire Division Battalion Chief Matt Jordan.
“We believe the fire spread to a water main, releasing water, which helped contain the fire as firefighters arrived on the scene and finished putting out the fire between the two first- and second-floor apartments.”
It took firefighters approximately 3 hours to secure the scene at 1131 S. College St. in which there was moderate to heavy damage to the area adjoining the two units and light smoke and water damage to the apartments themselves.
The apartment units were occupied but no injuries were reported.
