Two bullet holes in a door and a blood-stained carpet are the only remnants of a shooting at the BMW Social Club that landed two men in the hospital.
Police responded to the incident at the BMW Social Club (adjacent to the VFW Club) on Martin Luther King Boulevard at approximately 8:20 p.m. Sunday, according to Opelika police Capt. Allan Elkins.
When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old Opelika man suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of the neck and a 35-year-old man, also of Opelika, who had been shot once in the upper left shoulder, Elkins said.
“The 30-year-old was flown to UAB Hospital and the 35-year-old was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center where he was treated and released, “Elkins said.
Elkins said the suspect in the shootings is described only as a black man wearing a black shirt and armed with a handgun. The case remains under investigation, Elkins said.
