A Lee County jury Friday found an Opelika man not guilty in the shooting death of an Auburn man more than two years ago.

District Attorney Nick Abbett said the verdict in the Kiley C. Jackson murder trial came down after the jury deliberated part of Thursday as well as Friday.

Randall B. Kardoes, 44, of Auburn died after he was shot once in the head May 31, 2007, at the Tree Tops Apartments in Opelika. Authorities arrested and charged Jackson, who was 28 at the time, with the murder.

The trial started Tuesday at the Lee County Justice Center.
