Keep Opelika Beautiful is offering a solution for people who have been wondering what to do with the piles of used and broken electronics they’ve been collecting over the years.
The organization is sponsoring an Electronics Recycling Collection Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 at Miles Thomas Field in Opelika.
Individuals and businesses in the community are invited to drop off electronics and related items such as computers, fax machines, phones, small kitchen appliances, toner cartridges and VHS tapes at the collection site.
The electronic recycling drop-off service will be provided free of charge; however, there will be a $10 fee charged for each television set dropped off.
The Georgia-based company Creative Recycling will provide trucks and bins to transport the items to be recycled.
This is the first time Keep Opelika Beautiful has offered an electronic recycling collection service, said Barbara Kent, KOB board of directors member and event publicity chairperson.
For more information about the event, contact Keep Opelika Beautiful at 749-4970.

If you want to get rid of some of your old electronics, I will save the city of Opelika the money and take them from you. Send me an email. I train guys over at Benning and have the need for this type of stuff to teach soldering and troubleshooting.
