Local restaurant robbed at knifepoint
Auburn police are looking for a man who reportedly robbed the Subway restaurant on West Magnolia Avenue at approximately midnight Thursday, according to a statement released Friday.
A man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money, according to the statement. He took an undisclosed amount of money and left. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses described the suspect as a black male with a light complexion, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a light-colored shirt, jeans and an orange visor.
The incident was reported at 1:45 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.
The Subway was still open when the suspect walked in, Auburn police Capt. Tom Stofer said. The money came from the cash register.
Detectives are not releasing the number of employees or customers in the store at the time because they might be potential witnesses, Stofer said.
Stofer urged anyone with information about the incident to call the Auburn Police Division tip line at 334-501-7337.
“The person who did this, people may know somebody who came up with extra money all of a sudden or alluded to something of this nature,” Stofer said. “Any little bit of information we would appreciate.”
