One passenger was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Marvyn Parkway Wednesday night in Opelika.
According to a release from the Opelika Police Department, a preliminary investigation revealed that at about 5 p.m., a 1998 Kia, traveling south on Marvyn Parkway just south of Crawford Road, was struck on the right rear quarter panel when the driver tried to pull ahead of a 1990 Chevrolet truck. The car spun around and traveled into northbound traffic where it was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet truck.
Two people were in the Kia, according to police. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Lee County deputy coroner Charlotte Patterson at about 5:30 p.m. The driver of the Kia and the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet truck were transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment.

This intersection was the focus of yet another bad accident about an hour ago. Two accidents in two days.
I agree, this is a bad intersection! You have merging traffic and also people coming in and out of 169 and the store on the corner with people trying to come in and out on the highway. Another bad place is the merging traffic leaving Tiger Town! People will run you over just to get ahead of you!
This is a bad intersection. It seems like a drag race for some drivers heading down Hwy. 51. Trying to beat the other driver to the merge area. I have seen alot of close calls on this road.
